The Toronto International Film Festival will feature 70 Canadian films at this year’s 10-day event, including world premieres of Atom Egoyan’s thriller Chloe , Dilip Mehta’s New Delhi-based comedy Cooking With Stella and the much-anticipated romantic drama Cairo Time from Montreal’s Ruba Nadda.
At a packed press conference yesterday at Toronto’s Fairmont Royal York hotel, TIFF organizers also announced that American director Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (with co-stars Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell, filling in the lead role vacated by the untimely death of Australian actor Heath Ledger) will be a North American premiere gala.
In special presentations, the festival will also showcase the feature-film directorial debuts of Vancouver-bred Peter Stebbings ( Defendor with Woody Harrelson, Kat Dennings and Sandra Oh) and 20-year-old Quebecker Xavier Dolan’s English-Canadian premiere for J’ai Tue Ma Mere (I Killed My Mother) .
TIFF is this year held from September 10th to September 19th, and this is its 34th year.
In other news, the LA premiere of Shorts is going to be on August 15th at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, and Kat will be in attendance! If you feel like seeing her down the red carpet in the flesh, the celeb arrivals are set to about noon, with the films screening at 1 P.M.
Kenwood Vineyards Celebrates the Movies at the 2009 Sonoma International Film Festival
Thursday March 12, 7:08 pm ET
KENWOOD, Calif., March 12 /PRNewswire/ — The 2009 Sonoma International Film Festival celebrates the magic of the movies and the pleasures of wine country during its five-day schedule of screenings and events from April 1st through April 5th, and Kenwood Vineyards kicks the excitement into high gear as a Supporting Sponsor. Kenwood Vineyards “Sonoma Series” Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir Rose, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon will be poured at the Festival’s Welcome Center & Lounge – the “crossroads” of the Festival – all five days and Kenwood’s own celebrity, winemaker Pat Henderson, will make special guest appearances presenting his “Purveyors of Good Taste” seminar.
The 2009 Sonoma International Film Festival will screen 68 independent feature films, short films and documentaries at venues in and around Sonoma’s historic town plaza. This year’s Festival films highlight impressive work by some of today’s best directors and actors, including Mira Sorvino, Jeff Daniels, Elizabeth Perkins, Peter Coyote, Bebe Neuwirth, Lauren Graham, Jason Ritter, Kat Dennings, and Barry Pepper. The Festival will also feature an array of fun events, such as the Gala, the Festival’s Tribute to Bruce Willis (with Mr. Willis appearing in person) and the Awards Ceremony, plus writer, producer and director panel discussions for those interested in exploring the inner workings of the movie industry.
Attendees can enjoy Kenwood Vineyards Sonoma County wines before or after screenings and matching a wine to a movie promises to be fun. Kenwood Cabernet Sauvignon will compliment the complexity of The Answer Man and Kenwood Zinfandel has the rich character to accompany Like Dandelion Dust. Racy Kenwood Sauvignon Blanc is a good match for Speed and Angels. Kenwood Pinot Noir Rose will go well with just about every movie, but especially Story of Wine. Should Bruce Willis pick up a glass of Kenwood, have what he’s having!
Over the past 11 years, the Sonoma International Film Festival has increasingly combined the finest independent films and filmmaking talent with the best in Sonoma County wine, food, art and music, and 2009 marks the third year Kenwood Vineyards has been a sponsor. One of the Sonoma Valley’s most successful and honored wine producers, Kenwood Vineyards makes outstanding premium wines that showcase Sonoma County’s world class vineyards.
So after congratulating myself on a relatively error-free move, I made a stupid mysql mistake and we lost all of our new posts + the new stuff in the gallery. Never fear! We reuploaded it all, and this will serve as a huge post to relist everything new and the bits and pieces of news about Kat we have. Sorry if anyone was confused by the reversion!
First: Arlen Faber has been screened on Sundance quite a few times in the last week, and while it hasn’t met with rave reviews, everyone seems to agree that Kat was awesome in it. Our deleted post had a longer paragraph, but that’s the gist. Congrats, Kat! EDIT: Yuzu tells me the missing part is that Elle Driver picked up the international distributing rights.
Next: Hollywood Life scans, and a little something Rach found in Blender in the CD review section:
Third: Kat attended an event on the 12th! We’re late updating because of moving the site etc. but Yuzu got hold of some images:
What we’ve all been waiting for: NICK AND NORAH’S INFINITE PLAYLIST screencaps, 1443, medium quality, along with 2 The House Bunny stills and THB behind the scenes caps:
64 new images from the Williams + Hirakawa shoot (watermarked, but still oh so pretty):
Last but not least: Kat was in the Presidential Pledge video that Demi Moore directed and uploaded to Myspace Celebrity the day before Barack Obama’s inaguration! She’s at about 1:48 and there are caps in the gallery.
The Dream of the Romans, recently renamed Arlen Faber, has been put up on the Sundance Film Festival ’09 line-up under the category Dramatic Competition! A new Kat film isn’t far off, you guys!
Sundance is 39 days off, opening on January 15 and ending on January 25 in Park City, Utah.
