Robert Rave just released a novel called Spin a few days ago, and already Zac Efron’s movie people are looking at the possibility to make it into a motion picture. Rave says on the subject of the role of Mia;

As far as other dream cast members, Robert said he isn’t sure who he’s want to play Jennie but he is dying to get Kat Dennings as the actress for the character of Mia: “I love her. I think she’s brilliant. I love her acting.”

Hopefully this’ll mean another film for Kat!

The Toronto International Film Festival will feature 70 Canadian films at this year’s 10-day event, including world premieres of Atom Egoyan’s thriller Chloe , Dilip Mehta’s New Delhi-based comedy Cooking With Stella and the much-anticipated romantic drama Cairo Time from Montreal’s Ruba Nadda.

At a packed press conference yesterday at Toronto’s Fairmont Royal York hotel, TIFF organizers also announced that American director Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (with co-stars Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell, filling in the lead role vacated by the untimely death of Australian actor Heath Ledger) will be a North American premiere gala.

In special presentations, the festival will also showcase the feature-film directorial debuts of Vancouver-bred Peter Stebbings ( Defendor with Woody Harrelson, Kat Dennings and Sandra Oh) and 20-year-old Quebecker Xavier Dolan’s English-Canadian premiere for J’ai Tue Ma Mere (I Killed My Mother) .

TIFF is this year held from September 10th to September 19th, and this is its 34th year.

In other news, the LA premiere of Shorts is going to be on August 15th at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, and Kat will be in attendance! If you feel like seeing her down the red carpet in the flesh, the celeb arrivals are set to about noon, with the films screening at 1 P.M.

Richard Linklater (“School of Rock”) is nearing a deal to direct “Liars (A-E)” for Scott Rudin and Miramax.

Project, penned by Emma Forrest, is a romantic comedy about a woman who, on the way to President Obama’s inauguration, retrieves lost items from her ex-boyfriends.

Kat Dennings is set to play the woman’s pal.

Linklater’s most recent directorial effort is “Me and Orson Welles,” which bowed at the Toronto Film Festival last year.

Kat was featured in the Fall 2008 issue of Nylon Guys. You can now view the full article in the gallery. I’m in love with the shot of her from it, too.

She also posted today promising a new blog layout. While I’m fond of the current one, I’m curious to see what she’ll do with it next. Keep your eyes peeled, guys.

Anyway, I acquired The House Bunny on DVD over the weekend, so once the holidays roll to a halt I’ll get started on bringing you guys HQ screen captures!

Hope all of you have wonderful holidays and an awesome New Year. ♥

The annual Black List is a list of the most well-liked, not-yet produced screenplays, and Kat’s on it! She, along with her older brother Geoffrey Litwack, have reportedly written a screenplay entitled “Your Dreams Suck”, and it got six mentions from more than 250 different film executives (you needed 4 to be included).

Vulture’s little blurb on the script reads as follows:

“An awkward teen with no self esteem regains his self-confidence after joining a Dance Dance Revolution team.”

Should be exciting to see if it actually gets made or not.

We just got a little heads up in our inbox that Kat made it to the Teen Vogue’s October list of the Ten Best Dressed! She’s made number 10 with her floral Dolce and Gabbana dress on the October 2nd Nick and Norah premiere, and is on the list with actresses like Camilla Belle, Ashley Tisdale, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez and Dakota Fanning, among others. It seems to have been a great month for Disney actresses, but then again with the premiere of HSM3, who’s surprised?

Kat went to the 15th annual Women In Hollywood Tribute hosted by Elle Magazine in Beverly Hills, LA last night! As usual, she looked great, and posed with Katharine McPhee and Jane Fonda as well as the editor of Elle. We have 25 high quality and 21 medium quality images of her appearance uploaded here. She does seem to be wearing a lot of black lately, but it looks great on her, so who’s complaining? ;)

Sitewise, we’ve added a name analysis on Kat, and ways to contact her, including a fanmail address! So if you want to say something to Kat that has to be longer than a comment to her blog, go check it out.

Not to push our other recent updates further down the page (check out our extensive Nick and Norah premiere and after party images in the gallery! and our updated extensive bio and other information!) but apparently Kat is negotiating a possible new movie role!

Kat Dennings, who stars in “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist,” which bowed in theaters this weekend, is in negotiations to join Woody Harrelson and Sandra Oh in “Defendor.”

Written by Peter Stebbings, who also is making his directorial debut, the film centers on a regular guy (Harrelson) who believes he has a secret superhero identity. Dennings will play a teenager he befriends, while Oh is cast as his psychiatrist.

Principal photography begins next month in Toronto on the film, which is being produced by Darius Films principal Nicholas Tabarrok.

Harrelson is repped by CAA, Dennings by CAA and Management 360 and Oh by UTA and Principal Entertainment.

Kat Dennings (NICK AND NORA’S INFINITE PLAYLIST, HOUSEBUNNY) has signed on to play the role of Kat in the new feature film DEFENDOR, joining Woody Harrelson (NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, THE PEOPLE VS LARRY FLYNT) and Sandra Oh (SIDEWAYS, GREY’S ANATOMY). Harrelson will be playing Arthur, a regular man who believes he has a secret identity as the superhero DEFENDOR. Sandra Oh plays his psychiatrist and Kat Dennings plays a teenager living on the streets whom Arthur befriends.

The picture is being produced by Darius Films’ principal Nicholas Tabarrok (COOPERS CAMERA, WEIRDSVILLE, THE LIFE AND HARD TIMES OF GUY TERRIFCO). DEFENDOR is written and will be directed by Peter Stebbings in his feature film directing debut. Principal photography begins in November in Toronto .

“It’s an incredible cast for an indie” enthuses Tabarrok. “We pretty much cover the gamut – from Kat the most in-demand, up and coming young star to Woody, one of the best actors of his own generation to Sandra a superb actress from the hottest show on TV. We assembled a fantastic group of talent”.

Last month, Tabarrok was named one of Variety’s Top Producers to Watch. His production company, Darius Films, premiered its two most recent films at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival (COOPERS CAMERA and DOWN TO THE DIRT) continuing its history of financing and producing indie films which go on to play some of the great festivals around the world where they are often sold for distribution. “DEFENDOR is financed with the US domestic still available, so yah, with this cast I think it’s likely this will be a hot property on the buyers list come festival time” says Tabarrok.

The DEFENDOR deals were brokered by Tabarrok and Mick Sullivan at CAA for Dennings, Jeremy Plager at CAA for Harrelson and Marsha McManus of Principal Entertainment for Oh.

Principal photography apparently begins next month. I hope everyone else is as excited about this as we are! It looks like a cool premise. As always, keep checking here for updates and we’ll let you know as soon as we have more information or a confirmation on Kat’s role. The second source seems to be alone so far in saying she’s actually signed.
